Stat Review: Through Pebble Beach 2

tourstatsthruPebble

Big week for the long hitters, as many of them finished in the top 20.  No new developments in the golf world’s tussle with the Groove Rule.  News came out during the week that USGA officials met with John Solheim to discuss a compromise to the exemption of Ping Eye 2 grandfather clause. Grading the Groove Rule

It didn’t take long for the recently implemented Groove Rule to cause controversy on the PGA Tour.  Props to Phil Mickelson for being the first player to publicly bash it.  The word is other players are not particularly fond of Lefty, but I could care less.  Mickelson has always shown his appreciation for fans of the game, and been true blue to whoever has chosen to pony up as his endorsees.  Read the rest of this entry »

Golf Buyer’s Guide to Eyewear: Part 2

Polarization versus UV Protection:

My initial thought to start this series was to detail the anatomy of a sunglass.  But, I changed my mind.  We will identify the various parts and their proper names as we go.  Instead, I want to jump right in to what appears to be one of the most confusing concepts regarding eyewear: Polarization and UV Protection.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Golf Buyer’s Guide to Eyewear: Part 1

The popularity of eyewear in the golf shop has boomed over the past 5 years.  The simple reason for this is that it makes good sense for golfers to wear sunglasses when they play.  Not only for protection of their eyes, but in fact the right eyewear can improve one’s game.  Good quality sunglasses with the appropriate lens tint can enhance visual definition.  Read the rest of this entry »
